IG index is part of the IG Group Holdings plc, a UK company listed on the London Stock Exchange. The group has over 100,000 clients around the world, and makes more than one million transactions per month, 95% of them online.  The company was the pioneer of spread betting.  It was the world’s first spread betting company when it was established in the 1974 to give investors the opportunity to bet on movements in the price of gold.  Since then it has expanded rapidly, particularly since the mid-1990s. Its headquarters are in London, but it also has offices in America, Australia, Japan, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden and Luxembourg.

IG Index offers access to a comprehensive range of markets including more than 60 currency pairings, with spreads on EUR/USD and USD/JPY from just 1 pip and EUR/GBP and GBP/USD from just 2 pips. A large choice of global indices , thousands of individual shares, all major metals and energies markets like gold, silver, gas and oil, as well as a wide range of soft commodities, including sugar, wheat, cocoa, lumber and more.

You will be offered tight spreads in all major markets. Using their PureDeal Technology, you will use a reliable, fast and customizable browser. Real-time charts provide you with support for your trading, and DealThru technology allows you to place and update trades and orders through the chart itself. You will have 24 hour trading with IG index which is open from Sunday night to Friday night, and quotes prices even when underlying markets are closed, and for your peace of mind, you can put a limit on any potential losses, using a full range of Stop and Limit Orders. These include Trailing Stops which automatically move your Stop if the market moves in your favor.

 

Education Program

There is a strong tradition of Education at IG Index. There are all levels of training programmes, but also those specially designed to cover the basics of spread betting for those starting out or new to it.  This course, TradeSense, is over six weeks and is designed to teach you everything you need to know to get started, including the ability to place bets below the standard minimum while you are learning.
